The problem

TFA wanted its new cohort of about 30 corps members to meet each other and the alumni already working in Baton Rouge, past the usual introductions. Yet, during the summer intensive training, a fun and intentional gathering for this group was a lot to plan.

What they did

TFA wanted to unlock real connection between new corps members and alumni before the school year began. On day two of pre-service, everyone was seated at tables around the city, and The Game meant no one had to facilitate.

What happened

All eight respondents said the night built stronger connections and credited the structure. Alumni wrote in afterwards about meeting corps members outside a TFA setting, growing their loyalty back to the org, and the team plans to repeat it for community dinners.

What's next

Community dinners through the year, and a version for TFA’s fall summit.
